For those following my story you may have noticed recent tensions with the 3D print service I use. Well today was a bad day, they cancelled my new projects too, also for ‘IP reasons’, meaning either they are being over-cautious or ignorant when it comes to 3D scanning and remixing artefacts. Episode 2. The self-assigned culture police of the near future give their final verdict on my remix. This iteration sadly is below their remix threshold, but it does help me gauge where this elusive threshold starts and who would be enforcing it. It also invites us to explore tactics a 3D ‘pirate’ of the near future would use to smuggle unapproved print files beneath the subjective eye of the cultural border police.
