Iris: An electronic pet that reads data of your choice from the internet and displays it using pie charts, speedometers, colour codes and smiley faces. Made from laser-cut perspex pieces that snap together, arduino ethernet, and a custom made display face that uses the POV effect (persistance of vision). The face consists of an array of blinking RGB LEDs that are masked by a black spinning disk with a slot cut out of it. An opto-switch measures the RPM of the disk and regulates the pulse of the LEDs so that the synchronisation of two allows for different coloured segments to be animated. A collaboration with Digit London.

Coming soon: Iris - bot/companion/data monitor and display device. arduino ethernet enabled. Laser-cut fabrication. I’ll post some videos of the prototype in the next week or so.
